As a non-Jew but staunch Israel supporter, this is an excellent blog and I agree whole-heartedly with it. Big events in history seem to galvanize a message around the greater good. In the absence of a greater good (ie. big event), personal agenda's take precedence and a message can be quickly lost. That is not to hope that a big event happens, I believe the big event is continuous - like not seeing the forest for all the trees. I write only to point out the reason for the lack of a unified message. I pray they (those who are position, and Jay may be right, it may be from a bottom up groundswell) find their voice and find their message. The world needs a unified Israel.

An interesting take on the old problem. But what would you suggest the unifying message to be, in a quick, catchy phrase or sentence?

I think the Jewish Agency once had a great slogan, "Our future is where our past is." Maybe we should resurrect that one, just to remind people we've BEEN HERE.

Glenn - you make a good point, but then fall into the same trap of waiting for someone else - in this case the Government of Israel - to rectify the situation. Given the powerful social media tools that are available, perhaps it is time for a private initiative of ordinary citizens to conduct a focused campaign to fight the Arab PR machine. This might lead the proverbial horse to water, as nothing breeds success more than success.
